Blue Thaumaturgy “Flash Downpour”

Posted on by DarkOverord in Art

Darthanial Occassus, an anthropomorphic wingless red dragon, floating in the air looking excitedly down to the lower left. He holds out a slip of paper with his left hand while he gestures down to the lower left. The background is blue and magical abstract raindrop bullets shower down around it. In the lower left it reads: Blue Thaumaturgy “Flash Downpour”

Yesterday went:

  1. Oh I just want to doodle Darthanial looking cool
  2. Hmm actually I’ll clean the doodle up more to sketch
  3. Oh actually I’ll eventually need to design Darthanial’s Magic Circle given I already designed DarkOverord’s, Congeria’s, and Lucernaz’s. Well time to open up Inkscape for the first time in two years!
  4. Oh I forgot how to use masks in Inkscape OH RIGHT it’s backwards to every other art application I’ve ever used by a black mask being where you want something to show unlike every other app that treats black mask layers as where you don’t want something to show.
  5. Okay cool well I guess it’d be cool to put in the doodle now I have it made.
  6. Actually if I’m going that far I should theme it around one of Darthanial’s spell cards.
  7. Uh oh this isn’t a doodle anymore!!!

I ramble more under the links!

2021 sketch art of Darthanial Occassus, a wingless red dragon. He's floating in the air but looking super excited! In his outstretched left arm he holds a magical spell card, and over his right hand is a magic circle. In the background it is divided in to 8 equal segments, two rows of four. They represent 8 spells Darthanial would cast in this fight! They are in order: Red Thaumaturgy “Controlled Combustion” Blue Thaumaturgy “Flash Downpour” Green Thaumaturgy “New Growth” Metal Thaumaturgy “All to Gold” Earth Thaumaturgy “Sudden Fault” Star Thaumaturgy “Red Star’s Horizon” Chaos Thaumaturgy “Rift Magic” Void Thaumaturgy “Zero Point Energy”

Me: I’m tired, lets relax
Also me: What if sudden inspiration?

Anyway have some lore ‘cus this is stuff I’ve planned out and never going to do knowing me:

Darthanial Occassus' Spell Cards - EX STAGE BOSS
  1. Red Thaumaturgy “Controlled Combustion”
Red Thaumaturgy, according to Darthanial, is the magic of fire and heat. Here he demonstrates his practiced precise control of this element
  2. Blue Thaumaturgy “Flash Downpour”
Blue Thaumaturgy, according to Darthanial, is the magic of water and other liquids. Here he demonstrates a sudden summer downpour even on a sunny day
  3. Green Thaumaturgy “New Growth”
Green Thaumaturgy, according to Darthanial, is the magic of nature. Different to that of a druid’s of course, but both can encourage new sprouts
  4. Metal Thaumaturgy “All to Gold”
Metal Thaumaturgy, according to Darthanial, is the magic of metals. Here Darthanial shows that a philosopher’s stone is not required to make gold with the right skill
  5. Earth Thaumaturgy “Sudden Fault”
Earth Thaumaturgy, according to Darthanial, is the magic of the ground below us and of crystals. Here he demonstrates the constant threat of what lies below our feet
  6. Star Thaumaturgy “Red Star’s Horizon”
Star Thaumaturgy, according to Darthanial, is the magic of celestial bodies. This demonstration being a thought experiement of what it would be like to be on a star

  8. Void Thaumaturgy “Zero Point Energy”
Void Thaumaturgy, according to Darthanial, is the magic of nothingness and of the primal state of everything. Even at the coldest tempratures there is still some energy, this is a taste of the infinite
  9. “Arcanist’s Ritual Preparation” (SURVIVAL)
Darthanial runs you through the setup for a large scale ritual, maybe it’s how he crossed over to our universe, or maybe it’s just all conjecture.
  10. “The Arcane Wonders of a Thriving World”
Darthanial shows you a demonstration of magic from his world, now thriving unlike before. All eight types of magic as a final recap of this duel.
