A Quiet Night

In the background past the is the starry sky with a full moon, and below in a valley is a city, lights still glowing but clearly going to sleep as there are less lights in some areas.

Not every night needs to be about terrorising morals, you know? Sometimes it’s nice just to relax and overlook a city as it starts to sleep with a few decanted blood bags and company with the same thirst for blood as yours.

Granted, that hedgehog probably has some work to do for that kobold as the night goes on, but for now they can both enjoy the darkness in peace.

One of the first things I did, finally, after I managed to calm down after going mad for a while (If anyone asks if your mood is, dear god it’s not 9 or 10 that was HORRID and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone) was this sketch:

And I loved it, a lot. It just, a lot of it called to me and I needed to clean it up, and that’s what you see posted today. It’s not perfect, it didn’t need to be. It just had to be the feeling I wanted to capture.

I think it’s mostly because with how my mind has been, I wanted a quiet scene, like something I wish I had right now. Maybe it’s wistful? I dunno. Probably.

I’m more like a 7 atm. There’s been a chunk of support from my partner and friends, and it has helped me a lot. Here’s to navigating the next steps for me.

Donation Bust – Daniel Ferris

I’d hoped to get this (and the others!) done WAY sooner but we’re feeling in a place where we can finally work on things again without either feeling we have a load of things I need to, or events, or just feeling physically in pain. So here’s to getting back on this!

I had a LOT of fun doing this piece, a really rad character!

Simon Rickson – 2026 Reference

Reference sheet for a red anthropomorphic hedgehog and vampire bat, Simon Rickson, who is also a vampire.

AKA v2.1 :B

The ears were a key reason I needed to update the ref, what with the bat-like ears now being on the hedgehog. But also, obviously, a tweak to the colours, pulling some of that bright saturation Simon had out of it (or I guess you could say “Simon’s mortal colours are fading after almost three years of being a walking corpse”)

Though this was in part from talking to another vampire about things and kind of getting their input on things because really everyone will set out their own path on these things but external input is useful. However it’s also from IRL I’m kind of going greyer, even if I’m not happy about that, so figured I’d update Simon’s ref too.

It also meant I could fix up the colours on the old reference. The 2024 one didn’t have the pawpad colours on the colour pickers, and also the shoe sole colour was completely wrong.

That’s the claw colour!

I also adjusted a couple of the annotations too, mostly for clarity, but not much as the rest of the sheet I felt was pretty correct.

Thankfully as this was just an update to the existing sheet and not a COMPLETELY new thing it didn’t take too long to sort out. Tbh most the time was figuring the colours, drawing in the new ears for the hedgehog and watching my PC scream as the ref file happily takes up 17GB of RAM when I had the final reference image (with the text etc.) open (I promise next ref sheet I do I won’t be that dumb and have a 18,788 x 14,350 canvas that I’m just going to shrink down to 15% >_>;;;)

Fun Fact: I was tempted to let Simon now summon wings in its hedgehog form and to be fair I might still do that but I didn’t wanna make the ref even busier lol. But it DOES look cool

This took longer than I expected. I started it before the heatwave, and other than streaming I was kind of 100% on it almost all waking hours >_> I know the inking took me about 7 hours, and I got through about 3 albums worth of music finishing today so. Yeah. I wish I put an actual timer on this >_>

I apologise for the near radio silence for the past couple months. It’s, a bit shit honestly! I’ve been struggling to really sit down and actually do art for the past couple months. I don’t think I could give a concrete reason, like for a small period I absolutely was hiding in minecraft, but it doesn’t really explain, the rest. I’ve honestly struggled to keep up with a lot of stuff in general, lil daily things, etc.

My only assumption has been a reluctance to both accept I’ve had burnout but also for the past few months I’ve finally been titrating on ADHD meds and I think I finally hit a dosage that works well for me. Of course my current prescription ran out and I’ve been struggling again so who knows maybe they’re related.

Well whatever, no-one likes to listen to someone whine that they finished at the last moment and offered excuses. I’m busy tomorrow but I’ll try and actually get things properly archived etc. to you by Thursday evening (BST) and start working on a plan on getting my owed stuff done finally.

Thanks for sticking around, especially given the whole Event in late 2025, I know it’s not been, easy.
