Anyway here’s some weird bat (based, loosely, on a Spectral Bat/False Vampire Bat!) who is obsessed with lenses. Be it magnifying glasses, spectacles, telescopes, …crystal balls!? Anything that acts a a focus like a lens does! The fun thing about this character’s past still being in development is I get to do things and go “Oh! Yes… ha ha. YES! >:3c”
When I was showing this off to people as a sketch, people said it did have a “tarot” feel to it, which was unintentional, but welcome!
Y’ever start playing a browser game, and then learn that these mysterious Masters might be batty and then you do this whole “Destiny” thing and you get this?
And thus a fan character is born. Or well, its future after the game’s events is divined at least~
Former former human (who became so obsessed with solving a lover’s murder it lost almost everything before trying to get its teeth stuck in every strange and interesting thing to solve in the Neath) ■■■■■ sees a dream of destiny of them as, potentially equals, with these mysterious robed figures they grew accustomed to since coming to the Neath, and thus their course (and internal view) changed forever.
…But that’s boring. You’re here for the good Mr Lenses of course! Not some creature of lower origins! No, instead a creature that is deliberately of mysteries and one who seeks them out! While it habitually hoards lenses, that is not its true calling.
Its calling is to solve.
It would argue that solve life’s mysteries, to find one’s truths, is one of the most pure forms of love. To hunt down a killer of a loved one with nothing but a few petals to follow, to understand words that should be beyond one’s own comprehension, to drown yourself in secrets, and to transform yourself to what you know you are. These are what it argues those that follow its steps should learn for themselves.
And sometimes to find a truth one must focus through a lens, thus its collection of lenses isn’t always obvious. Sure there is magnifying glasses (it likes them a lot because detectives), telescopes, microscopes and other similar lens based objects in there, however there’s also things that most people wouldn’t consider a lens at all. Crystal balls and magical foci and other such like are in there too. If it can act as a lens for something then it can’t help but want to get its talons on it.

But yes, on the 10th of September when I first got that destiny for my character I was just “Look there’s no way you can say that my character had a dream where it is told ‘you flex your talons’ etc. while currently being a human without me going ‘it is θΔ now'”
The Masters in question, are enigmatic beings who are totally normal cloaked figures and totally not weird space bats that obsessively hoard a specific kind of item (or even concept).
And Lenses here, a former human of mysteries, found itself very attached to that which focuses as it became its true self. I bet it hates that it couldn’t ever hoard a gravitation lens, RIP.

And the knife? Well. It’s entire story was truly started by chasing down who killed it’s lover… a knife is fitting… no?

It’s also related to the symbol of the ambition my character has, “Nemesis” lmao

A Jack-of-Lenses
The cry goes up, “a Jack!”
The human that would become Mr Lenses wasn’t simply satisfied about merely solving the Jack case… even if it just washed its hands of it for the constabulary (and technically the Masters too) to deal with…
It had to know just exactly what the mechanism that caused it, how it felt. The feeling gnawed at its heart to understand exactly every part of Jack… even if it meant taking those knives in hand and losing itself for a while…
Those almost 3 weeks may have changed something about them… it’s not as unsettled about some extra smiles any more.
I might’ve actually spent a little Fate on doing a… murderous… story option uwu
But even if I hadn’t… the human that would become Mr Lenses has willingly killed its lover’s murderer… so.
