Annai Suru is certainly not the type of guide you want to lead you through a darkened forest but it’s the only way to the culprit!

So That Kitsune Dude is called 案内する, or in Romanji Annai Suru. So I was trying to find a good way to name him because “How do names????”, but I was basically hitting a road block because he’s the type of supernatural being that could be bent to being a familar and such magic is always strongest if you know their name! As a a result a few places just basically used the same names or just essentially titles “Messenger”, “Monk” etc. So I went with what he does, guide people through a forest. Whether his intents are true however and it’s more similar to inviting people to their doom, who knows?

Course this clearly isn’t his real name, it’s a verb not a noun! (Though 案内/Annai is the noun form of “Guide”)

I dunno. Will I stick with this? WHO KNOWS.

The door to whatever the tenrecs are protecting (it probably is the Heart of Magic). It’s actually underground but is like being outside, and is a very large cavern with plenty of places to fool would be raiders into thinking that they’re heading the right way. Heck the twisty turnaround nature of the place is a mixture of illusion spells and drawing power from The Rift.

When the hero arrives they’re in a battle against the guardian not long after they already had their ass handed to them. Normally the door isn’t that simple to find, but the heroes are following on the trail by the culprit of the incident!

Oh no those tenrec dude’s secret revealed! That’s why they had so much purple!

At first I was thinking of having them be two headed as well as having two sets of arms, but I think it would’ve been too odd?

Specially seen as this was meant to be some kind of combination of the two lesser tenrecs.

Consider them a pair that are the split soul of this duder. They are guardians of SOMETHING (not decided what, maybe tie into Aedus’ incident?) as such it’s easier to patrol as two individual beings than one, however obviously they’re less powerful separated. However they struggle being combined for prolonged periods, as they have gained such distinct personalities since they first separate, but they certainly can hold it together enough to fight off intruders!

I decided that the dude from yesterday was part of a duo and they are tenrecs (I’ve tried to make him more tenrec? I dunno if I have). This guy is a fire user, but has the lightning duder’s colours and vice versa (he will be orange instead of blue except the marking on his sword). Mysteriously they have a lot of purple on them, who knows why! :OOOOO! (I do)

MAN I SHOULD MAKE HIM MORE LIKE A TENREC ‘CUS THERE’S A SUBSPECIES THAT’S ALL BLACK, YELLOW AND BLACK aw yiss I’m so original.

I, don’t, know? It just started with DO‘s face. Then DO all fists on his hips, then suddenly I brought out the trench-coat I’ve not used on him for years and then suddenly wings and then suddenly the floor with raindrops, then the weird attempt at a daytime rift behind him and then suddenly a star??? ???????????????????

I dunno I was listening to Faint Dream ~ Inanimate Dream arranges oh boy did I tell you how much I love that track?
