Written by Deputy Archivist Intimo
Feoh Sigel is the youngest member of the Order of the Rift and the youngest son of Luzris Sigel, the current commander of our order. Out of Luzris’ seven children, only two of them went onto actually join the order, Feoh and his sister Isala.
Despite this, Feoh is admittedly infuriatingly laid back, while not lazy he has a tendency to rather see that matters resolve themselves than actually spring into action. Though perhaps his involvement in stopping The Rift being abused by malicious forces recently has changed this[2].
While not acting as a Guardian of the Order, he’s often helping the gardeners or the chefs with tasks around the grounds[3].
Abilities
Feoh’s abilities mostly lie in his excellent skill in casting runic spells, even so far as to be able to perform some of our more difficult demon sealing spells which is partly how he rose to become the order’s youngest to attain the title “Guardian of the Order”[4], however he still has plenty to learn and very likely will.
Feoh is a proficient melee fighter as well, while he doesn’t follow one specific martial art or specific training methodology, he makes sure to keep himself fit and his reactions keen. His weapon of choice is a voulge, a type of polearm, that he personally forged himself as well as inscribed controlling runes over that allow him to control his weapon remotely, in fact he treasures his trusty weapon so much you’d so rarely see him without it.
Most curious of Feoh’s abilities however are that he has demonstrated slight ability to manipulate space, such as small warps around which he seems to do with ease, in fact sometimes it seems as though he just floats through them without thinking about it[5]. He uses this ability in some of his spell cards where he’ll warp around while laying runes.
The Role of the Order’s Guardian
The job of the order’s guardian is to be first on the scene for major supernatural events, and to then resolve such incidents as rapidly as possible. This is to minimise danger to mortals as much as possible, partly because generally if an incident goes on too long other individuals may attempt to resolve them, potentially with fatal results[6].
The guardian’s also to acts as an intermediary between the order and major supernatural entities in circumstances where they cannot visit the order directly. In today’s modern age though even the supernatural can use technology so this role is something Feoh has done very little.
The final role is to act as a referee in spell card duels if they’re required. Generally the duels are quite clear cut but a quick summary for those unfamiliar:
- Spell cards are unique specifically named magical attacks that are declared before use by the individual. Two spell cards may be similar in basis but must carry a different meaning for them to be considered valid. This is to prevent someone repeatedly reusing the same attack.
- Both sides of a duel must confirm how many spell cards can be used by each party, typically this doesn’t go above three or four spells but some individuals choose to do more[7]. What each party wants as a reward for victory must be declared there and then, and the reward cannot be changed afterwards.
- The loser of a duel is the first party to run out of spell cards.
- The victor must allow the loser opportunities to rematch against them[8].
In circumstances where powerful beings clash, the order via the guardian, would ensure that both parties offer up what their stated prizes upon their loss would be, as well as ensure that such individuals do not attempt to cheat.
As archivists, Masako and I do not know where the spell card rules came from. Some say they’re a side effect of the rift, others say they came from a land of fantasy, and some say it was a drunken man’s idea that became too beautiful to ignore. Either way, it’s rare we do not have these battle of bullets around The Rift.
Known Notable Incident Resolutions
Temporal Fractures Incident – Feoh claims to have knocked a bit of sense in to Chronos Otus, who had apparently taken his clock precision too far and used his control of time to an extreme while drawing power from The Rift that caused the distortions. Feoh then for some reason set out to demand whoever controls the rift to take better care of it, and along the way had duels with JOS and DarkOverord himself.
Chaos Gambler – While JOS solved the Heart of Magic Incident and DarkOverord encountered Marcus Fukuyama in the city, Feoh was dispatched out to deal with a somewhat grumpy middle sibling of the Occassus family, Darthanial Occassus.
Chaotic Frost – While DarkOverord resolved the The Rift Sealing Incident, Feoh was dispatched out to deal with the eldest Occassus sibling, Lucernaz Occassus, who had decided to cause a small scale ice incident in jealousy of her brothers encountering Feoh.
The Broken Sunrise Incident – Feoh teamed up with Adjuro Simul to extend the night and stop Emperor Solus Luminare XI from attempting to reclaim the land as his own via a powerful ritual drawing on The Rift’s power. After apparently talking things out with them (via spell cards) they left the lost birds to consider their new place in our world, not as high rulers but as an equal to the other powerful entities that hold power in this land. On the way back they encountered a nue…? Or a bat? He wasn’t clear on this.
The Swarming Spirits Incident – Feoh aimlessly followed the spirits to where they were drawn to (while annoying the Riftmaker on the way) before encountering Violet Digitalis, a nine tailed god of foxes who was performing a ritual to unseal her ninth tail. Part way through the duel Violet realised why she originally sealed her own tail, and in a final all out attack[9], dissipated the ritual and allowing the spirits to return where they should. On the way back he encountered a certain three tailed fox who decided to taste what it’d be like to have a fourth tail, even if temporarily.
Eyewitnesses
“He honestly is kind of unsettling really, he’s just this cheerful lizard with a giant pole-arm strapped to his back acting as if nothing is odd, while shopping” (Grocery Shop Owner)
He is rarely seen without the pole-arm in case he does have to spring to action to protect people. While he is laid back, he’s not foolish.
“He needs to stop storming into my library. He’s done it at least three times now!” (Jamie Oliver Shears)
It’s not our fault you and your family have a vast repository of knowledge you won’t allow us access to.
“He’s more powerful than he thinks, even if JOS hadn’t joined in, he still could’ve held his own against me, well. Maybe.” (DarkOverord Occassus)
…I won’t be telling him this.
Countermeasures
It’s unlikely you’ll ever need to have any. Feoh is rarely aggressive, even after a few drinks, and if you are in need of reading such a section of an article, I would go so far as to say you should be avoiding the Order of the Rift in general… So maybe I won’t offer any countermeasures, if any.

[1]: Only technically…
[2]: It hasn’t.
[3]: Sometimes he does this with more diligence than his actual job.
[4]: Contrary to how it seems with how blasé Feoh treats his job, this is not a title that we throw around without reason. Feoh aced all the requirements to gain that title, even his father took a long time before he became guardian.
[5]: Feoh never gives a clear answer on this, claims there’s something about barriers that normally can’t be seen that allow one to traverse impossible directions, like a “screen edge”???
[6]: The local city would eventually send in their police force if we didn’t step in and I personally wouldn’t trust that to go well for anyone involved. Otherwise it’s been the part rock elemental, fox-bat hybrid who shows up and has effectively formed a rivalry with Feoh.
[7]: Notably the Riftmaker committed to a twelve spell card duel, that for some reason Feoh agreed to?
[8]: This is actually a key reason why so many of our counter-measures are “invoke the spell card duels”. This clause effectively protects a mortal from potentially lethal results. However the very nature of the duels means that you at least need to have some magic ability, if you do not it would be best to request protection from the order, perhaps the guardian (yes the guardian).
[9]: Feoh claimed this spell card was particularly magnificent and a beautiful sight to behold.

Masako, Lucas, next time you’re going to write about a member of the order, let alone my son, can you run it by me first? – Luzris Sigel, Commander of the Order of the Rift
