Congratulations! You’re observant and thus I believe you want to know so buckle up it’s time I guess!
First off though we do want to establish some things.
- Yes that does mean we view ourselves as a system of some kind (well, Median obviously we guess), however do not take us as some kind of expert, or go to, we’ve bumbled around on this with friends and systems who are friends. We can’t give you loads of details about how this all works, we aren’t prescriptive nor are we non-prescriptive because we’re still working shit out even now. Did our brain nonsense form from childhood trauma? It’s possible! Are we officially diagnosed? No, and I honestly do not want to even try with how the UK is on Mental Health 🙂
- Do not be surprised if in certain environments we just stick with “DarkOverord”, one advantage of sticking to that name means that if we don’t feel comfortable being “us” we can just be “DarkOverord” or “DO” (pronounced “Dee Oh” or literally the word “do”), but I don’t mind if peeps want to pluralise that to “DOs” aha.
- Further to the above, if you’re unsure which creature you’re interacting with, again stick with “DarkOverord”! We left it in the collective name for a reason!
- As confusing as it is, yes we are using “DarkOverord” to refer to a whole and also two individuals in the set, sorry it just is what felt most right to us. We’ve been using this name for over twenty years after-all.
Our experience has been a lot of self-reflection and looking at distinct periods of our life, and how “I” acted. There is one thing common between us though!
We’re θΔ and not human.
That said though, another common trait between us is that we’re not really that spiritual (yet?), a lot of what we are (and why we don’t feel human) is effectively “it feels right”, which maybe is spiritual but it doesn’t feel like what my brain wants to claim is spiritual.
Continuum
A continuous series or whole, no part of which is noticeably different from its adjacent parts, although the ends or extremes of it are very different from each other.
In some ways accurate in some ways not, but something that feels right. We are aware that there was some use of the term “continuum” to refer to certain aspects with plurality, but we are not using it for that purpose. We use it because it’s the why “I “made the “joke” in the first place, and we used this image:
In a 2D space this the most accurate, but it’s also a good look at what I mean. Simon and Marcus on the ends, like with a spectrum of light, with a load of “DarkOverord” in the middle. The order of those DarkOverords here isn’t important, but most of them are parts of a whole, and along with Simon and Marcus form the spectrum that is us. We are similar to a star’s specta, bands blocking out specific parts of the full electromagnetic spectrum which indicate what elements are within a material you’re passing light from (AKA absorption spectroscopy) or allow you to detect the chemical composition of a star’s own atmosphere. And let’s be honest, we’re gay as fuck and clearly a rainbow so we may as well keep using this example.

Anyway, proving that for about 10 years we were aiming to get a Bachelor of Science in Physics, it just felt like a term that just fit for us, and we can just just mush more of my self interests in as we like to validate it.

Anyway that aside, we should actually introduce ourselves huh? Properly. The order of the tabs is “Simon is seen most” and what works most logically from there to explain, and pronouns are in order of preference. As a group though: it/its then they/them. There’s a title as it were for each (“the hedgehog” for example) and often is used describing each other or a good way to refer to each member by others.
Simon Rickson
Vampire Bat Hedgehog – it/its (they/them)
The Accidental Host, and “the hedgehog“
The usual face you’ll see around, and habitually as a result the least likely to remember to sign off its posts when it wants to affirm more than “this is something DO said”.
Not originally a vampire but the moment it accepted that gift was probably the most “affirming” moment it had towards its own being. Does not subscribe to the garlic “issue” (garlic flower blooms not bulbs are still on the suspicion list) and you should all keep making yourselves meals tasty with it.
“Wtf do you mean ‘Accidental Host’???” Simon was already the “de facto” DarkOverord at the time (as of some time in 2021) and was the one who experienced toy!DO barging its way back in to being noisy. Simon was also the one who effectively had to work out at least the starting steps of it all. After a few weeks of obsessive researching (that it has mostly forgotten a lot of it that didn’t seem actively relevant so there are occasions where we’ve had to read things up again oops). But also as a result of being “aware” when this “&” revelation started, Simon though does sometimes worry how much of its opinions and preferences are its own or formed from those that came before it and is still kind of unpicking that.
Unsurprisingly, a fictive: Simon took its form from the former Sonic OC “Speedy the Hedgehog” AKA Simon Rickson.
Simon personally prefers to identify as Neutrois or Agender. “Gay” is its best description of its sexual and romantic interests, with a masc preference.
DarkOverord Occassus
(Anthropomorphic) Western Dragon – it/its (they/them)
The Potential Original, and “the dragon“
D.Occassus is here because where it makes “sense” to order would put it after another DarkOverord which is already confusion. Our collective best guess is that this dragon was what fractured off to spawn the rest of us, though we all accept the full chance that there’s a chance someone else could fall out of the proverbial memory tree but right now, we think is the best explaination. It also was pretty inactive since 2012/2013 (gee that coincides with burning out after uni huh?).
It was in reconnecting with DO that a lot of other things fell in to place (though DO was arguably one of the last to get on board with all of this). Simon didn’t properly remember a lot of things, the Twenty blog post was very difficult for it and it’s likely DO did provide a bit of a helping hand before we really started working this out. DO remembers a lot of school and also remembers certain design choices it made for almost all of us way more than the others do. Sadly that does mean it remembers the most negative things, such as it be.
It’s also a big NERD. It has the strongest interest in sci-fi and the like, perhaps unsurprisingly when it is the one who made choice to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Physics. It also loves shoving shit in spreadsheets – this is the dragon you have been warned about and should fear about making a .xls as a database. Also the one who ends up most sucked in to games like Minecraft and is THE pokénerd of the lot of us.
DarkOverord identifies as agender, attraction preferences is masculine and is grey-asexual.
DarkOverord (toy!DO)
(Anthropomorphic) Inflatable Toy Western Dragon – it/its
Hollow in Body but Not Heart, and “the toy“
One of the other two “DarkOverord”s, though the only other one that actively refuses to concede to another name and feels extremely strongly on the matter so DarkOverord it is. As such it often gets left as “the toy” or “toy!DO” when being referred to.
A fictive that spawned off DO when exploring inflatable toys as identity exploration and if it wasn’t for how distinct it is today from D.Occassus we’d agree to the idea of like a subsystem of DarkOverords in a system of DarkOverords.
More bubbly, but more gremlin at the same time. It likes being at least a little silly and is very proud of being a silly little toy (you have no idea how much glee it feels when people bap at its snoot in VR ‘cus of the bouncy physbone). Rated least likely to stand still. Absolutely the rougelite enjoyer (it 100% is the one who likes playing Vampire Survivors the most).
The toy’s gender is “no thank you” (agender), and has little to no interest in sex. Romance is fun though.
Marcus Fukuyama
Bake-danuki (shapeshifting monster tanuki) – he/him, they/them
The Cocky One, and “the tanuki“
Marcus is the odd one out of the group in that he’s genuinely the only dude. A fictive that took up the tanuki OC (Marcus Fukuyama, funny that) we had, and became the main face you saw representing us between 2016 and 2021.
Still getting used to this all and hasn’t really been about much. Though the times he has popped up he has been the one to most likely follow through on matters one could say are more, “intimate”, without prompting. But a shared existence of years make it hard for both him and Simon to struggle with pushing fully past that boundary. That said though, generally has a pretty level head on his shoulders, even when he was thrust awake out of nowhere again a few months back.
As stated earlier, Marcus is very firm in considering themselves male but is fine with “they/them”, is attracted to other men/masc entities, and is rather sexual.
DK-0VD-D4M-C40000
(Anthropomorphic) Robot Western Dragon – it/its
It Follows, and “the robot“
Much like toy!DO, DK-0VD-D4M-C40000 is a fictive that effectively took up the identity for ease and accuracy. Though it’s specific state as a “dragon” isn’t as important to it as being artificial and robotic. It is also the least likely you’re going to see as generally it is passive potentially to a fault.
Thinks in, and when freely able to speak too, in third person (this one, this unit, itself, etc.), opting only for first person when around those who probably wouldn’t be comfortable about that, or the others worry wouldn’t react well to the multiplicity of it all.
Once mind is set to things, it will just follow threw with little tiring. Which is why it declared its accidental fronting proof of our shared existence as a whole and started setting up various spaces and organising notes for Simon to wake up to the next day only remembering it all in dreamlike quality, with details and notes that the hedgehog didn’t even realise about us.
Despite all this, struggles the most artistically unlike the rest. It can draw, it can “conceptualise” but it feels constantly that it is forcing the matter, not that it is genuinely creating.
Doesn’t identify with gender, struggles with emotions. It’s not that it lacks them but it’s that it struggles conveying them. Its interests in orientation are holdovers from D.Occassus, masculine. Doesn’t have much sexual interest unless it is gratifying for the other person.
May also be a vampire too now.
Foske
Vampire Red Fox – it/its, they/them, he/him
The Accidental “Littlest”, and “the fox“
“That’s another accidental” look it was. First off, fuck you if you’re anti-ABDL, and if 🦊 is blunt if you are of that mind then frankly you probably hated everything else about us. Secondly, the fox is very obviously an adult even in situations when they’re feeling small, A stands for “Adult” even if sometimes they wanna act like a kid.
Anyway, Foske formed from years of exploring more crinkly things, and became this kind of rebellious punky fox (who needs diapers) and things kind of continued from there. After a lot of the “&” Foske wanted to explore that space more and more, and more “little” (or probably more accurately “middle”) space things appealed to it. Eventually the AB got appended on.
Arguably the most impulsive of the lot of us, has been yanked back by Simon multiple times for wanting to pursue things that could be self-destructive.
As of a few months ago their favouritest vampire kind of solidified Foske’s own identity as a vampire too, it kind of fits that the punk fox who likes being kiddish likes the idea of being a big ol’ scary monster who is also just a kid really too.
Foske is mostly agender with a masculine lean now and then to its identity, and is very much in the asexual space (unless it involves crinkling)
