338/365 – 2018-12-04

So we’re all still dealing with the Tumblr situation (I’m aware of the irony of posting on Tumblr about this) and honestly. There’s not much I can do about it.

I’m already having false flags on my art posts and honestly, I need to consider what I want to do about that.

While many non-artists bemoan the functionality of Tumblr, as an artist, with dedicated blogs, it served the requirements I needed. I could post things up with the relevant tags and go on with my life without having to sort things in to archaic posting systems (dA, FA, etc.). And my 365 blog benefited from this as it meant I could just link one tag for a month, stick chrono on the end and redirect people to look at the art one by one from the 1st of that month.

Now pieces of that blog are going to disappear because of two reasons:

  1. I do NSFW art elsewhere and will post it to that blog if that’s what I drew that day. Usually I try and stick to SFW stuff, but I won’t deny that sometimes it’s not and that’s who I am as an artist. I’m not the only one in the world to do so
  2. Because while I may not use blacklisted tags, people who reblog my work may. Or perhaps the algorithm looks for words and phrases, and maybe I’ve said furry, or gay, or some other term on a post causing it to be flagged.

The inevitability is, I will be leaving Tumblr, this SFW blog will stick around longer mind, partly because, I may as well post out to the 31st on 365. But I will have to make decisions about future “blogs” etc. elsewhere, or even just self-host it on my website.

Either-way, that’s not a decision for now. I will sometime in the next 10 days post up “where to find me”s beyond links in my outdated link pages etc.
