Dragged over from my Live Journal, apparently at least CFz2011 and SoS2011 I actually blogged about. Typos are deliberately retained 😛
I suppose NOW I should post a Confuzzled2011 journal.
Friday 6th – Day 1
Not particularly much to say about Friday, as with last year, the first day is pretty bog standard “Get reg’d and opening ceremony”. Though congrats to CF Staff this year, you managed to get the Hotel doing things on time this year! =D
But like I say, nothing super fancy happened on Day 1. Bar “The Don” “crashing” the opening ceremony. And then getting two furs whose names have completely slipped my mind to do a 10 year anniversary dance, and then steal Brue for a dance! Which he was TOTALLY thrilled about.
I did manage to catch StormDragonBlue, SilerIcetail, Kachi and Gullible and chatted for a bit to them, but mostly hung around chatting with the usual crowd to be honest! Well, got poked by Kraken D’Waggin too. But for the most part, a standard affair (Like I’m going to have tomorrow at the Minimeet…)
Saturday 7th – Day 2
Saturday morning was a rather rushed affair, me and Tiger barely got up in time and then Shez asked me to go pick up Shampoo! >:O Then some plasters for Damian. Got there about 11:30 though, to find Crim running round with a radio ‘cus the daft sod wanted to help even though his wrist is buggered atm ;P Though we managed to have a skit round the Dealers Den, and got last years shirt (I was too skint to buy one in 2010 shut up), though Crim got a mug, another Brok badge, and a Brok statue. Brok is now bravely serving cookies to the dragons in my room.
After this we had a little lunch in Jenny’s, the hotel reserant, in which Crim got stolen by the radio for a bit! After I dragged a coffee from all the way across the hotel! Gosh! He eventually got back, but till then, it was me, Shez and Hyperiffic, which an Ocio appearing later. After Crim returned and we ate our chips, ma and ‘im headed over to the banner brawl, and boy was it a laugh c:
The girls clearly stole the show, but the boys certainly had a good shot too, including their flying fedoras and EVERYTHING ON FIRE. But all in all a good laugh, of course, this meant that The Gneech did run late and we quickly ran over to his panel on webcomics. Admittedly, I was expecting worse, but a lot I also knew, so it was no surprise, EXCEPT panel layout. It was informative, and showed me how subtle comics lay out their panel and art. So thanks for that c:
From there we had a panel on drawing, mostly Life Drawing, by BhavFox. Now. I’m going to be frank, and kinda blunt. Anyone whose user title on a forum is “Pr0n Artist – Mistress of the night baby”, kinda makes me doubt their skills with art. Needless to say, I was very pleasently surprised, and managed to pick up a few tips nonetheless. And certainly changed my opinion of him c:
Next up was a panel on Perspective and shading. Now. I do have an idea what I’m doing on these, but I jotted stuff down anyway, always useful. Even the maths that confused everyone but me, Crim, and Scheriff (Who was running the panel ;P). Though shading with colour DID become interesting, I learned a fiar bit about complementary colours and shading with them, rather glad for this, hope to improve my colour pictures with that instead of just adding black! =D
Rest of the night was pretty lax, and hung around mainly with Shez and co c: Though I had to leave before Gnardawgs Rock with Graafen and Ska due to shitty public transport in Manchester to Salford *shakes fist at Metrolink and First Buses*
Now I admit I’m probably forgetting a lot but ah well…
Sunday 8th – Day 3
Now I personally didn’t have much to do on Sunday, I did however rush in for EosFoxx’s art panel, and how informative it was! Granted it meant getting up early, rushing out early, and pushing getting in for 10AM, but I managed it. It was a lot of recapping the previous days panels admittedly. But there was also a lot of building on that, plus tips to draw hands, woo!
After a bit of wondering and looking at the dealers den some more (Pretties~) I atteneded Serfox’s chiptunes workshop. It was interesting. I myself am not rushing to make chiptunes, I can barely mess around with pre-existing midi’s to be fair, but I did enjoy it.
From there till dinner was a lot of lounging and resting
But to be fair, nothing more than usual con flare, though Shez did go swimming, crazy husky. We later went to Jelly’s to the buffet, glad we did, I was so full that afterwards I felt sick. I got my £9 worth that’s for sure 😡 Not much else for Sunday, lots of chatting to various people really. Though got one of TaniDaReal’s mood badge things, got the arty “extra” too. In before I never use it!
Oh! Actually thinking on it, Sunday was made awesome by Slush Puppies and Flint being awesome c:! Though watching Stormy accidentally create a crowd was humorous to say the least! I don’t blame Uncle Kage for not wanting to be part of that Love Sextet ;P
Monday 9th – Day 4
All good things…
Monday was the last day, after a bumpy night (I got Post Con Depression early apparently) I wanted to pop in and at least try to say goodbye to various people departing, till about 3 where me, Shez and Chrome, not the dragon, departed back to wet Manchester with good times behind us… AKA I obviously missed the Dead Dogs Party ;P
But…
The hotel seems to be falling apart though. I hope if CFz2012 is there, it’s better. So many complaints about rooms, the broken boiler and at least four water leaks. I never thought it was the best hotel but… It’s a little bit of a downer, as much as I had a good time, people were pretty much boiling alive, or trying to save things from water leaks, especially when it rained. Kudos on staff for avoiding water damage though!
I’m also not a big fan of next years theme, on the other hand, I only fit in last year because I do a Physics degree
However…
It was all in all a great con. And a great way to spend my first anniversary with Crim. Yes that’s right, we got together Friday Night at last years Confuzzled. While technically the Saturday is the Anniversary, I’m counting it in the new time units “Confuzzleds” 😛 It was also great getting to meet people who I only knew online =D There’s a lot of names I’ve missed who I chatted to as well. But there’s only so much I can remember, trust me, I do remember meeting my neighbours in Eccles ;P
But what of next year? Well, I hope they do move to a bigger venue. Britannia Country House Hotel was nice, but it barely fit 499 furries, let alone 600 maybe next year? Who knows. All I know is that next year it will be even more cramped.
